[Congrats, Caster, you got the elegant and dignified Princess of Hyrule to curse. Okay, breathe. Calm down. Remember how to use the shift buttons. Don't freak out.]
My newest shinki introduced herself to me as "Ruler," and my vision of her consisted of multiple deaths as it did with Archer. The other class names have seemed fairly self-explanatory as I have encountered them, but I do not get the sense this girl was raised as a noble, so I am at a loss.
[and you're supposed to help her you dumb fake druid!!]
Yeah, Rulers are so to say- exception, in the class system. If the Grail War is going as planned- [ Or someone has fucked it up beyond belief! ] -they are not brought forth.
Rulers are meant to be arbiters and mediators, and do not choose a side. They have authority over other Servants present and ensure the rules are not being broken. While they govern the War- [ Rule the game in fact ] -it doesn't necessarily mean they were monarchs. Saint and sages, impartial judges maybe, that's who fills the rank of this class.
[Saints and sages, rulers of the War but not countries... alright, that adds up with what she's gotten a sense of so far.]
I see. There is no War here, despite the large number of Servants; do you think her presence here will have any sort of effect on you all that she might not be aware of? Will the authority of her class still be in effect?
That would largely depend whether her command seals are intact and if her presence here is deliberate instead of accidental.
In the former, it would mean that our large amount of Servants is causing a disturbance, and something is sending the Ruler to do- what Rulers do. Fix the stuff. Her landing as a shinki is going to hinder her mission. [ But not necessarily stop it entirely. Weird shit happens in nasuverse, logic of Counter Force is one of them ]
There is no War, and there is no Grail as far as I am aware of. She might be, just like rest of us, surprising manifestation, and nothing else.
Would there be a way to check if she has her command seals?
[Since the idea of them being tattoos kinda got glossed over in Holy Grail War 101. And since it's not like they have any way to determine if Ruler's here deliberately or accidentally.]
But she seems to be doing fine. She is taking everything rather well, actually. She is very optimistic sort of person, I think, though not quite as bombastic as Minako.
[Though, to be fair, no one is as bombastic as Minako.]
That sounds like a perfect fit to your Temple! Just a question, though- does she have dons an armor, has blond hair and a braid- carries a standard, you know stuff like that?
[ Like, could it be anyone else- she was on the ice ]
As for the command spells, they will look like red ornamental tattoos. Usually on a hand or an arm, but it's not a rule. I assume it will be a large design, since she's supposed to have enough of them to force seven Servants into submission, should she have to.
You could always take for onsen to clear any doubts.
[ Oogle your shinki in the public baths, yes, that's the way to go. ]
Listen, princess. No matter what happens, don't take her to France. Orleans specifically.
[ Look, that might not be a reason for what happened with Lancer BUT JUST TO BE SURE. Not to mention there is bound to be some saint stuff, so it might be a sound advice for different reason. ]
[ It immediately goes to Dragon Witch of Orleans, the wish born from the Grail held by wrong person... you know the drill.
He should have paid more attention, but it is immediately relevant to something he had to hell her anyway. Because speaking of wishes and wrong people, there--
Once upon a time there was a queen of Connacht, named Medb ]
Zelda, I have something important to tell you. Preferably in person.
But first, does that twin sister wears a black armor?
[Oh boy. That doesn't bode well. Why does everything happen so much.]
Spare time is something of a limited resource today, you realize. I can try to slip away for a bit after the training session is done for the day, but I cannot make any promises.
[New shinki, gotta make sure she's settling in well enough, etc.]
But yes, she does, along with paler hair and golden eyes. And she is here as a shinki as well, if Ruler's testimony is anything to go by.
[ You can metaphorically hear him sigh in relief, through text that is. ]
I understand. Should she be a shinki as well, that makes the whole situation much less of an emergency.
[ It's not like one can drop all the life info on the other out of spite... Hey, Zelda, did you want to know another uselesGrail War trivia? ]
Its something I only covered partially previously- as you know one person could qualify to be summoned into several different classes, depending on their specialties. However, due to the nature of how the summoning process works- the classes being fixed vessels capable of manifesting only one aspect of the hero- there is nothing saying one person couldn't manifest in two different classes at the same war.
[ And that's not even touching modifying or altering them! This system desperately needs a better admin. Or maybe, just shouldn't be an open source. But yeah, this is him roundaboutly explaining that these two are the same people ]
So they are not twins, but rather two aspects of the same person?
[She doesn't want to know anything about Fate/ but that's just tough fucking luck for her, isn't it.]
Does the chosen class truly have that much influence over the summoned spirit's personality, then? Perhaps I simply do not know her very well, but this other-Ruler seems completely different from the one that is my shinki.
It could be possible- The same person to display completely different personalities in different classes- perhaps one class makes them manifest as a child, while the other, as an old and wise mentor.
[ That would make it so much easier, no? Not this time though. They're identical, and well, the other fits description of the Dragon Witch from Orleans ]
The vessel can also be corrupted, twisted and changed with a powerful curse, to show and enhance only darkest aspects of the summoned soul-
But neither is the case here if my guess is right.
Sometimes all you need is a fool, a fool with a wish and enough power at hand to have it granted. To have someone else molded to the fool's desire of what "should have been, but could never come to pass"
[ Dammit Gilles, Medb, stop making edgy OCs ]
That makes such Servants much more of their own people rather than "different aspects" even if they respond to the same True Name.
[ It would be best to probably delete this conversation later! ]
why in nayru's name does anyone even bother with such a complicated system if it is so ripe for abuse!
[UUUUUUGH SHE HATES THIS]
So, someone summoned an alternate Ruler fitting their desires, that alternate then killed the one I know, and now they are both here as shinki with neither of them remembering any of this.
Fantastic.
Is there anything else I should know that does not need to be reserved for a face to face conversation?
Mages are professionals in breaking the rules, what can I say?
What you say is intriguing, because in events I remember the alternate Ruler was the one to be defeated. But there isn't saying they haven't met somewhere else again. She's a Servant, she was long dead by the time that happened anyway.
This all is what I was preferring to discuss in a face-to-face conversation, to be honest. But you're right, there is one more thing-

[Fortunately, this is text, so Caster doesn't get to see the face she makes at that suggestion. Goddesses, Fate/ is so stupid.]

[One of these she's just gonna have to study an Earth map for a week, isn't she.]
Who is she?

It's possible she knows her name. Archer does, Lancer did too.

Can you tell me if she had some sort of twin sister, though? Because that may be immediately relevant.
