[That's not a really good sign. Archer mulls over his next words, carefully choosing his phrasing.]
I don't think I ever wanted anything for my own. [he admits finally. It's not something he wants to discuss, but after the earlier shitstorm explanations are in order.]
[ Wow, how thoughtful, that wakes Caster up. He opens the pack - his own this time - grabs one, and soon it's lit with a most mundane use of magic. ]
Gotta keep your eyes open in it, even if the visibility is shit. [ He puffs a smoke, mmm, when this become so nice? ] Knowing the destination helps, but it's so rare...
Especially if you have no idea where you are or what's the destination. [Archer smirks, immediately feeling better. he has to admit to himself that he missed their banter and that easy companionship. It makes him relax for the first time since yesterday.]
[ How lucky of you that your god is not the one to hold a grudge. Caster literally has too much chill, like be serious for once dude. Though some people could take an example for that. Some, like Archer, whose stress over recent events was an annoying buzz, that kind of that you notice only when it disappears and then-- finally silence. ]
If you keep going you will eventually reach something. [ Who knows what. Maybe a city> Or a shore? Or sudden death in surprise bog. He closes his eyes apparently set on enjoying his cigarette in silence. ] Unless there is somewhere you'd want to go, that's it.
Oh trust me, I understand that sentiment all too well. [ He might have become famous for single-handedly fighting off a whole army, but he was always surrounded by people during his life. Even during the fighting off an army thing -if not for Laeg he'd never get so close to the queen to issue the right of single combat.
He partially puts out of the pack one of the cigarettes and offers it to Archer - a peace offering right back at you ]
[Archer takes it and leans closer to Caster - what, he has no lighter, but he's not going to say 'no' to the offering. While cigarettes have no special appeal to him he doesn't mind the smoke.]
Thanks. [he murmurs once he manages to lit his cig
[ Nice move there, right after admitting the fact that you might want something for yourself. Caster just lets out a short chuckle and fills his lungs with smoke.
He keeps his silence, for once, but his body language is open. While he's not continuing the discussion or bringing any other topic, the other man is not an unwelcome company ]
[Archer doesn't see the need to break the silence with unnecessary chatter. He's genuinely enjoying the company - and smoke - and letting that feeling seep through their bond. It's an odd feeling, being at peace with himself.]

Yeah, I've noticed. [ That's why he said what he said. ] And?
[ He's not sure if he's supposed to be answering here, or if Archer just wants to talk and get it off his chest while he nods ]

Nothing, just wanted to let you know I learned my lesson.
[Perhaps there's something more. Perhaps Archer simply wishes to be on friendly terms with someone who doesn't mind his snark or his behaviour.]

You and me, both [ He scoffs but his tone is lighter ] What a piece of work that princess is...
But gotta move forward, no? [ Always forward. ]

As long as we're not running blindly into the fog.

I prefer the company during this journey instead of the destination. [he says quietly after a long moment.]
